A pair of bewigged magistrates flank the entrance to Bristol’s Guildhall, opposite the Crown Court in the historic centre of the city

As befits bigwigs they wear no-nonsense you-must-take-me-seriously looks on their faces

    1. If the latter is true I imagine that historically most sitters for portraits must have had indigestion — barely a smile amongst them (if you discount the Mona Lisa).

      And if you see any paintings of babies smiling it must have been wind…
