Stone head 17: triple goddess

triple

She-trinity tropes
(waxing-waning-new moon, Fates,
Three Graces) triumph

Three ages of a wall-mounted terracotta plant-holder based on a Greek caryatid.
Pictured successively in spring, summer and winter the head as triptych echoes Robert Graves’ concept of a pagan triple goddess as Maiden, Mother and Crone.
Still no plant though…

        1. Gathered that some passage of time + looking was indicated! My Latin dictionary also indicates that adspice frequently contracted to aspice, so assuming that this is a quote from some classical author. Some research is called for I think!
