      • I’m sure there are already plenty of 13th C doorways in York, but I like the weightless wooden door in your photo, counterposed against the solid heaviness of the stone arch. I see my hero (or perhaps heroine — haven’t decided yet) leaning against the arch, panting to catch her (his?) breath during a chase scene. The door silently swings open behind him (or her). A hand reaches for the breathless protagonist …
