Apart from most interiors (where the layout was obviously different due to different service requirements) the main way they didn’t conform with medieval architectural practice was the refusal to countenance human figures (‘graven images’) or grotesques (devils and abominations!) and only allow the occasional carved foliage on capitals and such.
