Torso

This bronze sculpture was created between 1913 and 1914, on the eve of the Great War, the ‘war to end all wars’.

Looking, to our eyes, like a design for a science fiction cover, Epstein’s bronze sculpture Torso in Metal (from ‘The Rock Drill’) still has the power to shock nearly a century on.
