Another vista from Bristol’s Cabot Circus shopping complex, framing an older landmark on the skyline.
This one shows a more distant view of the University School of Physics building, seen through a gap in the glass-panelled roofs.
Looking like a medieval castle keep, the Physics Building was built as late as the 1920s.
Constructed in the grounds of Royal Fort House, that fine building was itself built in the 18th century on the site of Civil War fortifications.
All part of the whirligig of history.
“whirligig of history” — at the mercy of whcih winds?
